How To - Your Own Website

There are a few ways to get your own website, so I decided to put together a quick How to: your own website. The simplest way is to go somewhere online like Blogger.com or WordPress.com and you can set up a working blog/website with the ability to have most everything, but typically you lose some control since you don’t officially own the website. Instead you borrow space on their website. Another way to set up an easy website is by going to a hosting site such as GoDaddy or something, and they usually cost about $5-20 per month and allow you a little more freedom with your site, but it can also be annoying since you can only use their bland website themes and can’t control too much of the layout and usage of your site. They also like to put ads on the website so everyone in the world knows that it is built by the hosting company, so it doesn’t look completely professional. Another option is a more professional, more expensive route of a website group that charge an ex...

Blogs are hot right now. Unless you have been hiding under a rock, and even then you probably know what a blog is. My favorite blog platform is WordPress. WordPress is my favorite because everything I would ever want to do with a website is possible using the WordPress platform and 3rd party plug-ins. There are plug-ins for seo , plug-ins to engage the reader, plug-ins for advertising, the list is extensive. If that were not compelling enough, there are tens of thousands of free themes out there to make your blog unique and beautiful. I promised you three simple steps to making money with blogs, so let’s get to it. Step one is picking a topic for your blog. Most people go with their passion because they can talk about it at length and not get tired of it. I say great but make sure that other people are interested in your topic also. Use your keyword tool of choice (Google’s external keyword tool is great for this) and input your site’s topic to see the monthly search v...

So, you want to create your own online space but don’t know how to start blogging? With all the scripts and technology today, it’s easier than you think! Here are 7 steps to starting a blog that will get you going: 1. Decide What You Want Your Blog To Be About The first thing you need to decide is what you will blog about. Do you want a general blog about your rants and raves? A blog about training your dog? A blog about your self-sustaining garden? Deciding on your topic is key because you will need to do some keyword research in order to find some good phrases to target as well as a good domain name. 2. To Host Or Not To Host If you don’t have any money for starting a blog, then you can use free services like Blogger, free WordPress, Tumblr, Weebly or many of the other free platform. I don’t recommend this, however because at any time these services can remove your blog and all your hard work will be for nothing. The best route to take, especially if you plan t...

How to Make $100 Per Day As an Affiliate - Step by Step

Making $100 per as an affiliate is not that difficult, but it also not that easy! In this article I want to share with you 3 essential steps that you must take if you want to pull in $100 per day more more as an affiliate marketer! The first thing that you must do in order to succeed with affiliate marketing is pick a good niche. Ideally, new affiliate marketers should pick a market that is not too competitive. Markets such as weight loss, general health, Work from home, etc. are not good niches for new affiliate marketers. While I do not think that experienced affiliates should shy away from these markets, there is more than enough money to be made in small niche markets, which is where affiliates should start. You can simply go to ClickBank and search through a variety of niches. I am sure that you will find one that is in demand, yet does not have a ton of competition. Once you have a product and a niche, it is time to setup a blog. I suggest buying a domain name and setting up a Wo...

Comparison Among Drupal, Joomla And WordPress

If building a website for your business is on the horizon, you may be speculating which content management system (CMS) is the best choice for you. Here’s a look at three of the most widely-used ones. All three are open source software, each developed and maintained by thousands of communities. Not only are all three free to download and use, but the open-source format means that the platform is continuously being enhanced to sustain new Internet technologies. With all of these systems, vital functions can be enhanced with an ever-expanding range of add-ons, contributed from their individual communities. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution here; it depends on your goals, budget, technical expertise and what you want your site to do. For a brochure-type site or a simple blog, WordPress could be the best choice (while very friendly for non-developers, it’s a flexible platform also able for very complex sites). For a complex, highly customized site needing scalability a...

Why I Became a WordPress Blogger

Until recently I have always favoured the free Blogger program provided by Google at blogspot.com over other methods of blogging. Why? Because it is so easy to set up and use, and monetize. However, Blogger has it’s limitations. The most signifcant of which is that you don’t own your blog so you cannot sell it if you want to. And you may want to sell it at some point if it becomes valuable because of the amount of income it is generating. It is possible to register your own domain name and host a Blogger blog on this domain but I found this technically more complex to set up. I have always been reluctant to take the journey into WordPress blogging because earlier versions seemed so confusing especially when it came to attempting changes to the setup. It is possible to set up a free blog at wordpress.com but, as best I can recall, there are limits on using the blog for advertising and therefore a limit on what you can earn with it. All the blog aficionados recommend using Wor...

WordPress Makes Building Websites Easy

Why use WordPress? Well quite frankly it’s one of the easiest programs to learn to build websites with. It also allows for managing all the content you put up on your website in a manner that is not at all complicated. And since most hosting companies offer automated installs of WordPress on your hosting account it makes the initial setup fool proof. The “dashboard” is the core page for WordPress where you will find everything you need to add, remove, make changes, or manage your website. The “Right Now” widget displays your total number of posts, pages, categories, and tags along with the number comments. The “QuickPress” widget allows you to quickly post new content on your website as long as you have the default category setup already. Probably the best feature of WordPress is the ability to install plugins. These plugins add functionality to WordPress to pretty much do whatever you need. Are you familiar with the famous iPhone saying “...
