Google Changes Local SEO Rankings
Last August, Google made changes to its Local Search display like replacing its yellow pages and everything related to making phone calls. Small businesses depend on a strong presence in Google’s Local seo Rankings. Top 3 is considered the holy grail of Google Local Search Results enabling some businesses to double their business most of the time. Before August of 2015, Google local search showed the business name, website, rating in stars, number of reviews, local teardrops, and the top seven businesses for every local search. Now only three businesses are displayed instead of seven. The former bottom half of the previous Top 7 who did not make it into the new Top 3 may be literally “out of business” with the expected decrease in phone calls and sales leading to a sharp drop in profits.
